International House Roma

I am the Dos of the school in San Godenzo.
I have been working here since 1978, the year that Rome had three popes. I've taught three (yes, three!) generations of students.
Giannina's not a common name in Rome, so when I'm out and about and suddenly I hear someone say, 'Giannina?', it usually means that the sentence is going to finish with, 'you were my teacher!' Makes me quite proud, actually.
But if old students have fond memories of San Godenzo,
I'm afraid I can't take all the credit.
Through the years we've had a constant stream of fantastic, dedicated staff who have all left their mark.
I can't thank them enough for their contributions.
On a final note, yes, I've been here forever, but I'm also a CELTA trainer and this has given me the opportunity to travel a bit, mainly to New York for about nine summers, where I also managed to fit in a heavy schedule of New York style salsa dancing, my passion. Sometimes I teach that, too!

Giannina

I love teaching at IH!
In all my years as a qualified lawyer, working in the City in London, and now, for the last 10 years as a teacher, this is probably the richest environment, with the most inspiring colleagues I have ever experienced.
As for my own experience as a teacher, I have worked with kids and adults in the Czech Republic, India, Turkey and - since September 2007 - here in Rome and I did my teacher training with IH in London.

Me?
Well, I graduated in languages and linguistics many years ago and then decided to train as an EFL teacher, a job I love.
I've been living in Rome and working at IH San Godenzo since 1988 so I've seen little children grow up and go to university and teenagers who've become professionals! The school itself is a wonderful place to work… with a family atmosphere and lots of enthusiasm…that's why I'm still here!!!

Kerry

I have been teaching English for three and a half years and went back to university to get my Master's degree in TESOL and Translation Studies last year.
I have been with IH San Godenzo since September 2009 and enjoy working here very much.
The school's very own computer programme is excellent and enhances the learning experience a lot, for the students as well as the teachers.
When I'm not at school, you can find me at the cinema or at home, reading books. I also have a (not so secret) passion for chocolate.

I'm a part-time teacher at the school and I've been working here since 2001.
I love the warm, friendly atmosphere and the professional way in which the school is run.
I am also an examiner for the following Cambridge exams: KET,PET and FCE .
When I'm not teaching, I'm busy with my 2 children, aged 8 and 17, or screenprinting in my workshop
.

Jeanette

I teach part-time at the school, having taught here full-time for 3 years from 2005.
I just don't want to leave, really! I did my CELTA training at Thames Valley University, London, in 1999 and have been here in Rome since 2005.
When not at IH, you'll find me teaching at a British International School where I teach secondary English Language and Literature.
Giannina and my students are the best things about IH: a supportive, organised environment with students who are engaging, motivated and lots of fun.
